Licensing guarantee

Know who is working on your solar system

Solar panels are electrical equipment on your roof, and the person handling them should be properly licensed. Here's what to ask and what we promise.

The one question to ask

What license covers the solar work you are performing?

Roofers are skilled at roofs, but disconnecting, removing and reconnecting solar panels is electrical work. A roofing license usually doesn't cover it.

Ask every contractor this question before you sign, and ask to see the answer in writing. A confident, licensed contractor won't mind.

Our promise

Our licensed contractor guarantee

When you hire Harborlight Solar for panel removal and reinstall, these are the commitments we make in your written quote. They are demo promises for this sample site.

  • Our own employees do the work, not unknown subcontractors
  • We pull the permits and handle inspections
  • Your reinstall workmanship is covered by a written warranty
  • License details available on request (demo placeholder)

We'd rather you ask too many questions than too few.

Your checklist

Before anyone touches your system

Run through these six steps with any contractor, including us.

Ask for the license

Request the license that covers solar work, and confirm it is current.

Confirm who does the work

Find out whether employees or subcontractors will be on your roof.

Check the permits

Ask who pulls permits and who books the inspection afterwards.

Get the warranty in writing

Make sure reinstall workmanship is covered, with the terms spelled out.

Agree where panels are stored

Ask how your panels will be protected while the roof is replaced.

Plan the timeline

Agree when panels come down, when the roofers finish and when you're back online.
